California Proposition 65
California's Proposition 65 requires businesses to warn California residents about significant exposure to chemicals the State has listed as causing cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Prop 65 does not ban any product, and a warning does not mean a product is unsafe.
Many ceramic materials contain listed chemicals. The ones most often found in our products are crystalline silica (in clay, glaze and raw-material dust), lead and cadmium (in some glazes and frits, and in some equipment parts), cobalt and nickel compounds (in some stains and colorants), and ceramic fibers (in kiln insulation).
