Handheld Clay Extruders

The smallest extruder is the Kemper K45 Klay Gun It is not much more than a toy but some artists find it useful for specific miniature needs.

Handheld clay extruders from Scott Creek come in two sizes and are called Super Duper Clay Gun and the larger capacity Clay Gun XL . There are a variety of dies available including Shimpo Hollow die set which is compatible with the Scott Creek Clay guns.

These are high-quality USA made extruders that are great for individual studios for casual usage.

Wall Mounted Clay Extruders

For busier studios the most common units would be the wall mounted style extruders. These are excellent for making clay, coils for coil building, handles, and can extrude hollow forms !

The Scott Creek 4" Aluminum Extruder is a sturdy wall mounted extruder. Aluminum won't rust so it won't stain... so it's good for white clay and porcelain. It can be expanded and there are a lot of coil and handle dies, hollow dies, or make your own with blank dies! It is affordable and expandable so it's a great choice for getting started!North Star Equipment also makes great wall mounted extruders.

Shown Right is the North Star 950 Extruder Package. This is a 4" unit with lots of dies, stainless steel for no rust on white clay, American made, expandable, and affordable!For bigger jobs choose the North Star Big Blue Extruder. This is a large capacity wall mounted extruder with wagon wheel and compound drive gear to maximize your strength! It holds slugs of clay up to 25 pounds. Many dies available or make your own. Extrude forms up to 4.5" without an expansion box. USA made!

Heavy Duty Clay Extruders

Bailey Pottery makes Power Drive Extruders for production, industrial, and high traffic school studios. These are powered with your air compressor (not included).

For the ultimate high capacity extrusion of clay and other soft materials, choose the Peter Pugger VPE-8SS. Includes heavy duty extrusion motor and a separate motor for de-airing your material. This has optional mounting hardware for horizontal or vertical extrusion. It has a sealed chamber so you do not have to clean it after every use. Hand or optional foot control.

This is a deairing machine based on the same time tested deairing technology of their VPM pugmills.
It is largely stainless steel and includes vari-speed. Options include temperature control and commercial wiring for the most demanding applications.
